On June 2 of this year, the Chairman of the Majlisi Milli Majlisi Oli of Tajikistan, the mayor of Dushanbe, Rustami Emomali, visited the city of Almaty of the Republic of Kazakhstan to participate in the regular meeting of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
On the morning of June 3, the Chairman of the Majlisi Milli Majlisi Oli of Tajikistan, the mayor of Dushanbe, respected Rustami Emomali, took part in a wreath-laying ceremony at the “Eternal Flame” of the park named after 28 Panfilov guardsmen in Almaty. The ceremony was also attended by the Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin, the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Sergeenko, Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Erlan Koshanov, Chairman of the Council of the Supreme Assembly of Belarus and Chairman of the Assembly of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan Nurlanbek Shakiev.
Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Chairman of the Majlisi Milli Majlisi Oli of Tajikistan, the mayor of Dushanbe, respected Rustami Emomali, met with the Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Vyacheslav Volodin. During the meeting, issues of further strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation and the implementation of decisions adopted at the legislative level by the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin were discussed. At the same time, it was emphasized that relations between Tajikistan and Russia are rapidly developing in all areas based on the principles of respect and mutually beneficial cooperation.
Also after the wreath-laying ceremony, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with the chairmen of the parliaments of the CSTO member countries who visited Almaty to participate in a meeting of the Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly. During the meeting, the state and prospects for the development of the CSTO were discussed, Tokayev noted the importance and role of the parliamentary aspect of the CSTO. President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highly appreciated the activities of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization and emphasized that the standard documents adopted by the Assembly are a vital part of strengthening the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
It is worth noting that the regular meeting of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization was held under the leadership of the Chairman of the State Duma of Russia Vyacheslav Volodin, and parliamentarians discussed measures to counter challenges and threats to collective security, as well as changes to the program of activities of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly for the rapprochement and harmonization of national legislation of the CSTO member states for 2021-2025.
During the regular meeting of the Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, the Statement of the Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly “On the development of artificial intelligence technologies within the CSTO” was adopted.
We remind you that the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is the statutory structure of the CSTO inter-parliamentary cooperation. The legal basis of the CSTO was created on November 16, 2006 with the aim of solving priority problems and development within the framework of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The CSTO Parliamentary Assembly consists of parliamentary representatives of the republics of Tajikistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus and Armenia.
Meetings of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly and the Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly are held at least 2 times a year.
