        The Center implements its work in cooperation with relevant governmental structures of ministries and institutions, executive public authorities, public organizations, sustainable development partners and other structures and international organizations, in the following areas:

- conduct basic scientific work on glaciers and snow cover;

- determine isotopes in the laboratory;

- study of isotopes in glaciers and snow cover;

- organize expeditionary works with foreign partners;

- monitor and assess the height of snow cover and potential outburst of dangerous glacial lakes.

       Carrying out fundamental and scientific-practical research according to the world standards in the Republic of Tajikistan and creation of scientific-technological infrastructures in order to achieve innovative development in the field of high technologies of cryosphere, glaciology and hydrometeorology are the main objectives of the Center, the realization of which contributes to the study of glaciers and the main sources of water reserves in the Republic of Tajikistan. To realize these objectives, more than 50 scientific and scientific-technical personnel work in the following departments and laboratories of this Center.

      Structure of the Center:

- Administration;

- Department of glacier monitoring, cryosphere, glaciology and GIS technologies;

- Department of hydrometeorology, glacier protection, climate change and adaptation;

- Department of expedition and field research;

• - Laboratory for water quality, isotopes and sanitation.

   The main task is to conduct an inventory of glaciers and on the basis of modern technologies and fundamental research to clarify the number of glaciers in the current climate change conditions, to prepare and publish an official Catalog of Glaciers of Tajikistan.

  The Center implements its activity in the direction of realization of the budget theme: "Development of the Catalog (Atlas) of glaciers of the Republic of Tajikistan using innovative geoinformation technologies for 2022-2026", under the state registration number RB No. 0123TJ1528.

      The Laboratory of Water Quality, Isotopes and Sanitation of the state scientific institution " Center for Glacier Research of NAST" in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) conducts isotope studies of glaciers and snow cover.

       The total number of employees in the Сenter is 51 people. The number of qualified employees is 6 people (2 doctors, 2 candidates of sciences, 2 PhDs).
